Ohio Ballot Access Bill Advances

Good news from Ohio!

A bill that would considerably improve ballot access for Independent and Third Party candidates survived a crucial vote earlier this week.

On a 7-6 party line vote, HB 260 passed the House Elections Committee Tuesday.

HB 260 is a far-reaching election reform bill that includes provisions making it easier for a new political party to get on the ballot.

The legislation also lessens the requirements for a party to remain ballot qualified.

Here’s the story from Ballot Access News:

The bill will be voted on by the full house sometime next week.

We here at The Free & Equal Elections Foundation fully support the improved ballot access provisions contained in this legislation. Unfortunately, the media tends to ignore the ballot access improvements in the bill, and others like it.

That’s why we fighting every day to bring attention to the onerous restrictions that are placed on independent and third party candidates across the country.
