Voters from All Six Qualified Political Parties Organize Anti-Proposition 14 Protests outside Upscale Sacramento Restaurant and Gov. Schwarzenegger’s Home

MEDIA ADVISORY

Voters from All Six Qualified Political Parties Organize Anti-Proposition 14 Protests outside Upscale Sacramento Restaurant and Gov. Schwarzenegger’s Home

WHAT

Protests uniting voters across the political spectrum will be held outside two scheduled Proposition 14 fundraisers in Los Angeles and Sacramento sponsored by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. California voters from all six qualified parties, as well as independents, will be in attendance.

Gov. Schwarzenegger and Lt. Gov. Abel Maldonado are marketing Proposition 14, the Top Two Primaries Act, as a win for democracy. Proposition 14 would end democracy in California.

  • Prop 14 supporters claim the measure will help elect moderates and put an end to “party bosses”, yet “party bosses” Gov. Schwarzenegger and Lt. Gov. Abel Maldonado are attempting to game California elections and eliminate choices for California voters with Prop 14
  • Prop 14 guarantees that the same government voters don’t like now will remain in power
  • Prop 14 would decrease voter turnout
  • Prop 14 is a scheme, largely funded by insurance companies and other big businesses who are generally not friends of consumers: http://cal-access.sos.ca.gov/Campaign/Committees/Detail.aspx?id=1322507&session=2009&view=late1

The May 24 Sacramento fundraiser costs $5,000 for two tickets. $50,000 buys Prop 14 sponsors one ticket to a special dinner at the Governor’s home on May 18: http://californiascapitol.com/blog/?p=2647.
